The Telegraph Historical Archive, 1855-2000 is the fully searchable digital archive of what was once the world's largest-selling newspaper. Researchers and students can full-text search across 1 million pages of the newspaper's backfile from its first issue to the end of 2000, including issues of the Sunday Telegraph from 1961.
The National Library of Scotland lists resources for anyone researching their Scottish family history. The list includes FamilySearch, Records of births, deaths and marriages, Old parish registers, Scottish Parish Records and The McKirdy Index.

It also provides access to the Family History Library Catalogue as well as thousands of indexed web sites. Patrons visiting FamilySearch.org will see a prompt to register for a free account or to sign into their existing account to continue using all the free expanded benefits.
The FreeBMD Project aims to provide free Internet access to Civil Registration (St. Catherine's House) indexes for England and Wales. The index is compiled progressively by volunteers, but is not verified by the Public Record Office. It covers the period 1837-1983 but the whole index has not been transcribed yet.

FreeREG is a companion project to FreeBMD (a database of the GRO birth, marriage and death indexes from 1837) and FreeCEN (a database of census information). It aims to provide free Internet searches of baptism, marriage, and burial records, that have been transcribed from parish and non-conformist registers of the U.K. FreeREG is a work in progress and volunteers are transcribing the registers, so not all counties and places or years are complete.

The GRO's indexes also contain for births the mother's maiden name and for deaths the age at death which can help you identify which certificate to order. This information is not available on Ancestry or Findmypast or FreeBDM. The Highland and Island Emigration Society was set up by private subscription to alleviate destitution in the Highlands by promoting and assisting the emigration of almost 5000 Highlanders to Australia. Their passenger lists for the years 1852-1857 have survived and are organised by ship and by family and record the name, age and residence of each emigrant (HD4/5) as well as occasional notes on their health and situation.
